Social Benefit : Establishment of a stable system of organic
vegetable production, currently supporting 47 farm families
in Srakaew province and capable of supporting 700 within 5
years. Because of the high valueof fresh asparagus exported
to EU markets, farmers earn up to 6 times more than they
previously earned under traditional corn-cassava rotations.
The project halps reduce poverty and forest encroachment
and elminates chemical residues used in conventional agriculture.
The expansion of this system will boost the competitive efficiency
of organic farming for export in Thailand.
